Skimmer & Filter Advice

I was hoping to get some advice on a filtration question. I just installed a new skimmer on my parents koi pond. Its running off a 1/15th hp W.lim pump, so the flow is pretty significant. At the moment the return is just going back into the pond via a TPR.

The koi pond was originally designed as a water garden, thus the drain placement isn't the best, and there are ledges to trap all sorts of nonsense. Im trying to decide what is best for catching and trapping suspended particles. Whats the general idea on the best bead filter? Ultima? Challenger? Other? It seems silly to pump the water back into the pond without filtering it at all. Any advice would be great.

The pond is about 3k gallons with the primary filtration coming via 2 vortex tanks, on sedimentation the other running 4 cubic feet of K1 with 1/3 hp Dragon and a 120 watt Aqua UV. No fish as of yet.. just got everything replumbed yesterday.
