Not sure what the process is for cleaning. But the potential danger is there. I know several people who tried it and failed. I guess, if you had the time, you could set it up and let it grow algae. Not sure how to remove the "poison".

If the tank advertises algicidal properties, I wouldn't use it -- period.

If it doesn't, I'd hit it with a 20 ppm dose of PP, then drain and rinse several times before using.

Best wishes,

How about one of the 10' diameter ponds sold under the name "Dreamponds" supplied by Fancy Koi Outlet.com? They might be a couple bucks more than these kiddy pools but they're designed for what you want to do and will work great for a qt setup later on down the line if necessary.

That looks like a good solution but one has to treat hot temperatures the same as cold . So I would dig down a couple of feet useing insulation all the way round it could be peat moss or straw then fill with water backfilling with the excavated dirt with a shade cover over the top . With all the snow we have had Arizona sounds nice .

I think I'm going to go with the one I posted a pic of and do the PP treatment and after that put 5-10 feeders in it for the week and half before I bring my koi and if they are fine my koi should be fine. If I have to I'll put a in window AC unit blowing across the pool to keep it cooler or just have it blow on the filter side to make the chamber colder so then the water coming threw the filter would be cooled down before it returns to the main body of water.

Our QT is the straight edge Intex. We had the blow ring-no where near as nice in so many ways.

Our fish survived just fine.

Feeders? Heat? The risk is high.........

Are you going to run the feeders through a 3 week QT period before you put them in the temp pond for a week and a half? I would be nervous the 5 or 10 feeders would put my collection at risk.

In AZ you'll be looking at a buck ten (110 degrees) in the shade! No doubt the water temperature in a shallow, above ground, temporary pond will hit triple digits, even in the shade.

So many risks to consider..............

Respectfully,

maybe...

Perhaps you could put a liner over the pool unit? Fasten it on.... Hopefully the structure could handle the additional weight....
