Fish pickin' at EnKoi . . .

A lot of folks on 'Bito aren't into buying tosai for a lot of very good reasons. I understand.

But as a niche shower -- and a habitual lottery scratcher -- I was really looking forward to this shipment coming in. After all, the ZNA SoCal show is only 10 days away.

Anyway, it was a small shipment (18 boxes) from just two breeders but it was just in time.

Sakuma was like 11 boxes (all tosai gosanke, gin rin, tancho) and Hiroi was like 7 boxes (8 nisai gin rin goshiki; the balance tosai goshiki, gosanke, etc.).

They ran the gamut from top to pond quality.

And here are some pix.

Except, of couse, for a few minor fish I snagged first.

I don't know if you guys have the same problem, but why is it that other people's koi always look better than mine?! It looks like there are some very nice potentials in the bunch.

Hello Lam . . .

It always helps to be there when the boxes are opened and bag after bag, one after the other, are poured into tubs for sorting, pricing, etc.

It's a bit of a mad house. And it's hard to know whether to buy or pass with other bags yet to be processed.

Adrenaline rush? Oh, yeah.
