shouldn't have been reading Brett's post around lunch time.....the constant mention of a hot potatoe has me hankerin for some chives, butter and sour cream...
Brett is right you know, like smokey the bear would say...only YOU can prevent KHV.
The buck ultimately stops on home base.
I learned a long time prior to KHV that if I wanted a healthy koi, the smallesdt amount of other hands to touch that koi the better. If they did handle the koi, there was no mixing.
The fish came in from the breeders and were held separate from other farms. Once cleaned up and into the home QT the sooner, the better.
what i have seen in my trips around the globe is make shift QT tanks on the home ground.
Makes me shutter. The koi's repair and opportunity to get over all the travel, treatment and confinement is a first class system. Aged and constantly running with water no less than what is available in the home pond, is a must for the home QT.
