Hi Steve, The Koi is Yellow, isn't Gin Matsuba a Platinum?
Absolutely right Russ. A Gin Matsuba is Platinum and that koi look silver to me without any traces of yellow....at least on both of my monitors. Now if it is yellow you would be 100% correct of course.... or would it them be a Kin Ki Matsuba?
Steve

JR, Is probably one of the most knowledgeable koi person I met. He is very straight forward and never beats around the bush especially during the judging event. I was given the opportunity to listen to his comments during the judging and he makes sure that he is heard. I hope to see him again in future shows and want to thank him for all the input after the show. One fish that he discussed is Perry's Sanke that took mature champ. He is truly 100% koi kichi and definitely knows what he is talking about.

I met JR on my way home. Always nice to meet good people.
I had to leave early and couldn't help with the takedown.
My buddy Chai forgot to tell there were going to be 64 tanks.......
I had a bad back to start with
Thanks to all the setup crew and the takedown great job.....
Great job on the show to Chai, Don and all the judges.
The next big one for me will be 2009 AKCA show in San Diego.

Yes, we were discussing it and Kin Ki Matsuba is what we came up with.
One of the most entertaining aspects of the Gardena show happened after it was almost all over. Anthony and Erwin were loading fish into one of the LARGE Igloo coolers from Costco. The two Japanese judges were in the area and were captivated. They took pictures from all angles, lid closed, open, hatch open. All that was missing was a spokes-model in a bikini. When that was over, Anthony took out the sling (from Mike M's model, made by Steve Eckert). Their eyes bugged out of their faces. Anthony demonstrated using an empty bag, but they wanted it done with a fish in a bag--again with the cameras--different angles and all stages of the process. I'm sure that Anthony and Erwin will be the new super stars on japanjudges.net in the next few weeks!!!!
The Sling was made from a design developed by Henry C (listed as the dolphin sling on KS). I took it to a local web gear manufacturer who made up the one Anthony used at the show. The final cost was less than $20 at the time it was made.
