The Spring melt is obviously in progress, but there sure is a lot of snow around. Is this normal for April?

The reality is that there is next to no snow around, to be honest. When you are amongst it you barely notice it, certainly compared with how it's been.

I can only make comparisons with 2007. I was here this time last year, when the area had little snow fall, and everywhere was accessible. That's not the case this year, roads are still blocked by snow in places.

Also, last year, at the Wakagoi Show, the sakura were in full bloom, that won't be the case this Wakagoi Show. Saito San told me a few weeks back that sakaru would be poor this year due to the weather.
