Hi Don, nice goromo. From looking at the huge pecs, you would think that he is a she!

Thanks, Lam.

Bob . . .

Those pix I posted were pix we took a year ago when we purchased him (@ 20"). Here's a link to the thread with some background information on this unusual purchase:

A new Ai Goromo . . .

He's only grown an inch since then. I'm sure that being held in a dealer's pond (with limited feeding) for two years slowed his growth, but we haven't given up hopes of being able to get that ramped up again.

Here's a recent pic we took last month; he's looking a bit stressed 'cause he's just gotten home from 3 days in a tank at the ZNA SoCal show.

This Ai Goromo is 15" in this photo that I took about 2 years ago. The only way to see the hint of being a goromo was in a tub, in full sun, using a magnifying glass. The reticulation is just now starting to develop at 24" and may still be years away to finish. Some day when I catch her I'll get a current photo. Her white is just awesome so I hope she turns out well.

Very nice kohaku....uh, I meant ai goromo, Kristine! I remember reading somewhere that the best goromo usually don't show reticulation until much later in life. If you don't mind, can you please share with us more about this goromo? Am curious to know!

Lam, I bought her as a 1 yr kohaku in ’05 and it wasn’t until a year later when I tubbed a few fish and noticed the start of a slight ¼ moon shadow just barely there on her red. Cant even see it in the photo but its there. Next week I’ll tub her and get an updated photo which will show how the reticulation is developing as a 4 yr old.

Yes Nancy she/he is one of Kenny's Kids. I think it is a she....or else stays on very good behavior to stay in the girls pond. Body looks male but gill plate is very smooth.
So here she is at age 4 and proof that she will someday be a goromo.

Kristine

I notice you have just a few posts. Are you new to the board or have you just been lurking for awhile. Could you please tell us a little more about your pond,e.g. how large, how many fish etc. You know, the typical data. You have some very nice fish and it looks like you maintain your pond for them to be able to really develop/grow quite well. NICE JOB!!
