Sorry, ts, but I do not care for her. I can see that there was a time when she looked like one with potential. Now, her Hi is breaking up, with messy areas in multiple spots. Ai Goromo is a difficult variety. It is less refined genetically, meaning the degree of variation in a spawn is great. Everything needed in a Kohaku should be present, plus sumi that consolidates in controlled fashion only in the Hi plate and only to the point of adding a robe, not overwhelming the Hi. It is not in the nature of sumi to be exhibit such self-control. Getting everything right is rare. On this one, things took a wrong turn.

Hi MikeM,

Thanks for the frank spot on comment. I got it as tosai and was very hopeful . Being one of my favourite type ,what are the requirements to keep good Ai Koromo ? My pond is soft dH3 , pH7.3 and i change 20% per week. temp at 27C. Sumi does not seem to do well in this pond . I always have the impression that sumi will clear itself to reveal the net edge effect. I have got a small budo koromo that is doing this. Very dirty look but starts to clear at the whites and beni.

thanks and pls keep up the good education .
ts
