Looking for a Ai Goromo

The surprised me and wants a tosai or nisai Ai Goromo. As expected I would like to up the anti and find a true tategoi female Ai Goromo. If you would like to refer me in the right direction in search for the right Ai Goromo, please feel free to PM me? Also I would like some pointers in selecting a Ai Goromo tategoi-hands on feed back?
Thanks,
Bob

Bob, the very best Ai-goromos are bred asagi male back to female Ai-goromo. I know when
looking at parents this is what you want to see...but the vast majority don't get over to Japan to see the parents so......

Look for a kohaku pattern on a tosai that shows just the blueish color in the sashi area of the leading Hi step. You do not want any blue reticulation showing anywhere on the beni. it's first year. When looking at nisei keep in mind this "rule of thumb"....the longer it takes to show any reticulation the longer it stays nice when it finally finishes.

I think I'd be talking to dealers you know and trust that travel to japan several times a year and have them look for you. They can email back a photo and put the koi on hold for 24 hrs
till you decide.

Sumi and Budo seem to be the most prevalent types of Goromo, so be patient in your search.

good luck!

Bob

A couple breeders come to mind for Ai-Goromo - Marusei (Hirasawa), Otsuka and Sakai Isawa. I'll try to post a pic of the one I got at Marusei 1 1/2 years ago. Unfortunately, I loaned her out to spawn as she was getting egg laden conformation. Unfortunately, she never made it back to me.

Why? Was she too nice & they kept her or something bad happened?

I have limited experience & observation of Ai Goromo. It seems to me that one must not only avoid falling for the little ones with "premature ai", but have to be very patient with the better ones. ... Personally, I do not care for them except when one is at its peak, then a good one is amazing.

It would be nice to see examples post their Ai goromo's to give us a relative idea of development and longevity.
