North Idaho Koi Keepers / Spike & Dick

NIKK hosted a wonderful workshop presentation by Spike and Dick this weekend. A full day workshop covering many topics by both presenters and dinner afterwards that kept conversation happening well into the night. Prabably the most fun and interesting part of this informational workshop, Koi Guy (Dick) combines his knowledge with Health Guy (Spike). All during their presentations one another would comment back and forth advancing not only Dick and Spikes understandings (they are still learning as well) along with workshop attendees (22 of us) learning and commenting as well. The only bummer, there is still so much to talk about and we only set aside one day.

Great big thank you to Dick and Spike for taking their weekend to help all of us advance our understanding and appreciation of water habitat and koi!!!!!!

Don't forget September 12-13-14, 24th annual PNKCA convention. For more information go to PNKCA.com or find us in this months KOI NATIONS

Thanks Dan for the invitation over. I had a wonderful time and enjoyed the Koi Kichii's tremendously. Spike Cover does a great job of sharing his knowledge and it was a priviledge to work with him.

I have to say John Miller is my new hereo......in the hospital friday for a pace maker and back the next day to attend our Seminar and the Banquet that followed. That night I was beat and he had his second wind......When I get that "young" (80) I hope I have his gettup and go
You have just a delightful bunch of Koi Kichii's......

Wow, this PNKCA convention looks like it's gonna be loaded with, for lack of a better word and using a much heated word that I used in the recent past, "elite" people in the hobby. And please, I mean this in a positive way. Definitely a can't miss kind of convention!

Dick or Dan, if you guys don't mind, could you guys please share with all of us some of the important concepts that were discussed over the weekend? I am sure we are all curious to know. Much appreciated guys.

Spike is a water expert so many of the questions dealt with things like managing water.
I covered koi selection. Both of us toucjed on other topics like filtration.
The group was made up of experienced koi keepers for the most part and dealt with more eleaborate explainations of water management. Kinda hard to sumarrise on a forum. had to be there to get the ebb and flow of the conversations.

If you ever do get a chance to hear Spike speak it is well worth it. The gang kept kidding us
about how well we worked together ( we had never met before that time) and said we should take our "act" on "the road"...
