If I remember without Maede none of Toshio's fish would have achieved the greatness they have without his conditioning skill.

Dan and Sharon Olson and I raised 3 sanke and four showa for 3 years from Toshio's new marusome bloodline. We measured and documented growth and changes. Dan intends to
prepare our findings and have them printed for all to learn from the study. It was a great learning experience. Hope you'll share what your learning as well, Mike.

I Agree that for many breeders, Toshio included, the magic of momotaro contributed to their success.

Yes, it is so much easier to condition high quality, isn't it?

hhhmmm yes and no...I have seen high quality fish sold here that have turned out like crap in even the best hobbyist hands. I have also seen high quality fish that was supposed to stay in Japan but end up coming back to the states.

I was under the impression that the 1m sanke that won GC came from Yamamatsu to Momotaro, rather than INC.

Hi Mark the 1meter Sanke was bred at INC. I think Takigawa was told about the fish by Maeda, in which Takigawa made the trip to Isawa to arrange to pruchase it. From there Maeda took on the fish to condition it.

Sakai INC and Sakai FF

I would go with Sakai Fish Farm. Easy question to answer. SFF has the track record. As far as INC he needs to go back to the show circuit and start winning again. HE may have nothing to prove any more because of his breed winning AJKS years back but he needs to show his new bloodline if they are able and capable to win and take top awards.

I think at this years All-Japan ZNA, Yukio Omachi took home Kokugyo with a 85bu Sanke from INC. I think Sakai(Isawa) will have it's hands full competeing against some of the up in coming Niigata and Hiroshima breeders.
