I have two chagois right now and they by far have the most unique character: friendly, stubborn, imposing presence, and an attitude.
Lam one suggestion as part of study in conformation in Chagoi.

Look at the bodyline and shape of head. Some heads from what I have noticed is more square as well as the overall front view of the fish is more square.

There are also the more rounded nose or face, the front view of the fish is generally round or plump.

Study it when you get a chance...

Thanks Tony, I sure will. In fact, I will try and see if I can bowl and take pixs of my two chagois and post them later today.

Here are a couple shots of my Hoshikin chagoi. It's about 13" long and I absolutely have no idea whether it's a male or female. After I took the pixs and measured it, I tried to feel for bumps on the pec fins or gill plates and I tried to milt it, but to no prevail. The other chagoi is in the outdoor pond so it's too cold to disturb it.

I wasn't aware that Hoshikin breeds Chagoi!? Are you sure you don't mean Hosokai?

Hi Lam,

We thought so too but she is very gentle to hand feed. Here is Laurie feeding her in January.

Hi Lam -

No, but we are looking for a smaller relative. After spending time with this one, Laurie has agreed to let me have a chagoi to go with all her gosanke!
