Clarity Unit . . .

arrived last weekend. Hope to get it installed next week.

Here are a few pix for those who haven't seen one up close.

Clarity Unit... forgive the ignorance. Protein skimmer? Whatever the heck it is, damn impressive looking kit there!

What's it do?

Sorry: It's a combination Trickle Tower (TT) and Foam Fractionator (FF); also known as a Protein Skimmer.

Existing circuit: No niche skimmer, 1/4 hp Artesian PP pump, Ultima II 6K filter, return.

Clarity unit will be Y'd in after the Ultima; ball valve will control flow to the Clarity; excess flow will be returned to pond via existing return.

Should be very nice. Expensive? And, do you have a link for where you got that one?

Looking forward to hearing how it works out for you. Is it primarily to remove proteins, and really not involved with the nitrification process? Just asking because of the trickle tower portion. Also, probably needs to be on the skimmer circuit to avoid solids entering it?

Some happy koi you must have!

thanks for the photos, was curious as to which bio ball they used as media. Imagine with it's size it had to come by freight as opposed to UPS? Which be anxious to see what you think.
I'm getting feed back on results from high end ponds and would like to get your info to confirm

Don,
What size pond/stocking densities and what flow rate through the Clarity Unit are recommended?

Steve

I, too, am interested in a protein skimmer for my pond and would like to know more about it as well. Don, I would like to know how loud it is when it's up and fully running. I would love to have one but am afraid of bothering my neighbors.
