Steve
EXACTLY!!! I have often suspected that Prazi Pond was cut with something harmless because in the past when I've used it I had to dose several times back to back (weekly intervals with water changes) to get any real results. I've even double dosed Prazi Pond with absolutely no ill effects at all. Did it for years. What I used this time was what I suspect is a full strength product purchased in bulk or it is cut with something toxic to the fish and not meant to be used for fish. Not sure of the original source but will try to find out.

I just talked to Tom Holder, Prazi pond is a USP product, which stands for United States Pure which it has to be 99.9 % pure. A batch of prazi that comes into this country "legally" it has to have a batch analysis done to determine the purity... FDA inspects each and every legal shippment.

I am thinking you product from China was cut with unknown toxic substance, because pure prazi will not kill fish with a five time dosage of "Legal Prazi"

I thought it was determined that it was safe to use. I have been using Prazi each year for the last few years and paying $130 for 100 grams. I have had my collection for over 16 years and would not use anything that was unsafe. I just asked?

the prazi that is marketed here in the USA under "real bussines" labels is 100% safe, the ones that people are buying in "bulk" is what I was refering to, and which may have killed half of another hobbiest collection.

too cheap to use prazi ? you are not alone...

I use fenbendazole, dosed at 2PPM. $99 for 300 gram from a tropical fish association in florida. 1 dose is what it take. My pond is the water-hole for many wild lifes in my area.

I have heard that fenbendazole works very well on koi symptom free. I have never had the need to use it on my koi, but used it on some of my goldies after I used a lackadasical QT treatment on some new fish that brought in flukes. Everything measured with a gram scale. It worked great on the flukes but killed half of my goldies, one of which was 6 years old. They started going downhill 2 days after treatment, and within 2 weeks if they were not dead I had too euthanize. Lesson learned.
Regarding prazi, I used it a couple of years ago on koi. At the time I had about 10-11 fish in 4500 gallons. One treatment worked great and every fish came through great.....but one. It was a female kohaku that looked like it was burned. The white skin turned very pink, and the beni looked like it was going too disappear. The fish was listless for about a day or two. The other fish were FINE like nothing ever happened. Eventually the kohaku came around and was fine. Its beni even started getting thick again.
I can't explain what happened but just thought I would relate some first hand experience I have had with both products.
