No these were not presented to me as guaranteed females and no I will raise them in my pond.

Very true, my thought too. I enjoy watching them grow and mature, but I too can only have a select number of females in my pond. I already must find homes for a few koi I suspect are males now.

I appreciate you honesty and opinions. Much to think about. Up until now I have been paying more and securing nisai or older koi. Nisai had taken most of the guess work out of predicting the future, but not all at a higher price.
