In true japanese gardening

The color is in the pond.....but I wait till the satsuki Azealas are done blooming before I clip and the Wisteria permeates the garden with it's rich fragrence....a great distraction from what swims in the pond....

Nice pics. My Wisteria has made it to the top of the Pine tree and is on it's way down again. LOL

Is that one evergreen?

My wisteria is deciduous, makes quite the mess in the fall around the pond. But for a week or so in the spring...it's worth it!

Thanks for the compliments on the garden. It is nice to have a place to escape to. I'll leave the mobile phone behind when I enter the garden. I always see something to do....with the bonsai, pulling a weed or feeding the fish a worm I uncovered.

The only negative has been not being able to go on an extended vacation as i have no one I want to leave it's welfare to while I'm gone. Naturally none of my kids have any interest in my hobbies

James, would it help if I said be glad you don't live on the edge of the forest?

A beautiful garden both of you! Now explain to me what the heck is "de candleing"... I'm unfamiliar with this term.....

on the end of the branches are straight whitish looking extenstions. They will age and show pine needles and then become the extenstion of the branch. In trying to hold the size of a pine be it bonsai or just in the landscape, one breaks of the extensions at this stage off at the base to hold the size. The pine will reset it's buds and then smaller one will come out later which then can be allowed to develop in what could best be discribed as a reduced growth rate.
