Would you like fries with that...........

.....sorry we only have small size!!

The mountains of Yamakoshi must now be full of 100's of millions of tiny fry.

2 females (and a bit) produce around 400,000 fry at Maruju, Torazo estimates 600,000 eggs from a Showa spawning.

Mark

You mentioned that Tanaka was releasing TANCHO fry. This confuses me to no end as I was always under the impression that Tancho were born from "regular" parent sets. Is there something new that I'm not aware of?

BTW, really enjoyed see Torazo and his wife at work. They have become good acquaintences over the past few years and one of my favorite breeders.

Thanks

Dick

No need to leave Ojiya to visit McD's.

Thanks Mark. Nice video of Tanaka's brood stock . Was that a quick glimpse of a Goshiki mixed in there? Interesting mix, that!

Mike

There are 5 Tancho, 3 female, 2 male, a male Goshiki and a bit of a failed male Sanke/Kohaku.

The Goshiki and the failed Sanke/Kohaku take no actual part in the spawning process, they are there to provide encouragement.

All will be detailed in the video of the spawning which will be finished as soon as the people laying a path outside my apartment go home and I have some peace to record the narration!

Thanks Mark. It amazes me how you can keep one or two fish from joining in the fun!? I look forward to your video.
