thinking of purchasing this koi....

I have the opportunity to purchase this 20" female platinum ginrin ogon. To me it looks flawless, except that it needs some food! It has won a couple awards. It is 3 years old. Not looking for a monster for my pond, so 3 years and 20" is fine with me. Hopefully it'll reach past 24" and I'd be fine.

they are asking $400. It is from a member of another board I visit. They are within driving distance so I can save by not doing shipping.

The first question I would ask you is, is it with a budget you can afford?

The second question is the fish coming from a healthy environment?

The third question is are you buying this koi because you like it?

The fair market value of a fish of that quality and size would be around $200-700.

I'm working on selling an antique watch I own to buy it. If I don't sell it, I ain't buying it because I can't afford it otherwise.

It is coming from a very healthy environment.

I really like the koi. The white is stunning and, although hard to tell from a picture, the ginrin looks to be good.

Man I love watches too, but I would never sell one of my watches to get something that might decline in quality or die. JMHO... What kind of watch are we talking about?

The fish looks to be a very high quality one at that, some dealers would probably put a price tag of upto $1000 and depending on the breeder even more. I like the fact the fish is of high quality and the fact that it is proven at show is a added plus. I have paid for Yamabuki Ogons as tosai 9-10 inches of High Quality for $150...

Here's the watch. I am going to be attempting to sell it over the next couple of weeks. I have a trip out to within an hour of where this fish is in 2 weeks. If all goes according to plan, I'll be able to pay cash for it.

THe Movado is a late 40's, early 1950s tempomatic. The tempomatic was the first automatic watch made. There are I believe 21 jewels inside, and the watch guy in town said he'd never seen as nice of a movement as he did on this one. Works well, and keeps good time +/- 5 seconds a day (good for an early automatic).

The picture I am posting is a picture I found online. Mine is the same exact thing, but has a few small scratches on the stainless steel....easily can be buffed out...I just don't want to pay to have it done.

I have 4 watches of my grandfather's. This one was one he bought later in life, so I don't mind selling it. He'd want me to, to be honest. this is my best opportunity to get a nice koi finally. I have my filtration perfect now...and I culled 2 fish last week.

Nice watch, I think it can fetch the money you need and then some...

Nice looking koi. Price is not unreasonable... but price is always a matter of opinion.
