40 looks, no comments

quess that tells you something.....Body structure looks nice, as does the uniformity of beni and shiro, it's just the tail pattern third of the body that is such a turn off. If the koi speaks to you and you have no thoughts of showing, it might be a lovely koi to enjoy in your own back yard. If your hope is to show, I'm afraid you'd always run into another koi with a more desirerable pattern

Well, the picture is slightly over exposed, probably at least 1 stop, and slightly out of focus.

As such the white is whiter than it probably really is, the beni more orange than it really is.

Is it a Koi you own or are thinking about owning.

Koiman, first of all, welcome to Koi-Bito forum. Second, don't regret bringing this fish to the koi show. After all, we are all here just to give our opinion of the koi. In fact, you are doing the right thing by bringing this koi to the show because (1) you will get to hear what the judges have to say about the koi, (2) you will know what the competition is or what the judges are looking for, and (3) it's such a great opportunity to meet other koi kichis. Please, please, please keep us posted on how your kohaku does at the show. Besides, it's now how your kohaku looks but how she fares with the other competitors at the show.

Please tell us a little bit about yourself. The reason why is because if you are new to the hobby, then you are off to the right start with this kohaku. She has a very attractive front half pattern and her shiroji is awesome. Who's the breeder and how old is she? Anyways, again, welcome to Koi-Bito forum.

to me, there is a similar situation between showing koi and fishing for trout.

Most states have size limits and numbers restrictions, so if you hook a little one and let it go you can, continue fishing. Some sportsman worry that if a trout is hooked too deeply it won't live, so they retain it even tho they'd like to fish for something bigger. My point is this, if you don't let the trout go it's gonna die for sure
if you don't take a koi to show, you'll never know how it would have done.

I hope my comments didn't discourage you, as there usually is always something better in the pattern category to compete with. But if they didn't bring their koi to the show....
