what kind of offspring will these produce

What kind of offspring will these produce? The female is on the bottom left and the male is on the top right. Ignore the others. Are they just going to produce a mess or could they end up looking ok. It was not a planned spawning so I have a hundred or so fry at this point.

Probably be the same...a mess. Anyways, I would wait to see when the fry get bigger to cull. But keep us posted what you find.

I meant the combination being a mess. Do you think individually they are a mess?

They should be better than the average pest mart fish, but I wouldn't hold my breath for a good quality crop. I wouldn't even try to save anything that didn't look like Sanke of Kiko, and even then they'll be more "interesting" than anything else long term. JMHO.

you have quite the genetic messengers to these new babies...Sanke, Showa, and mettalic, doutsu. A good metalic is hard enough to achieve so I'd just be looking for something that looked like sanke or showa, depending on where the black started showing up at....you could also look for douitsu but would imagine most will be covered with redundant scales......
so, look for a wagoi sanke and showa and good luck......next time breed you female back to platinum Ogon or Kin Showa and the sembetsu job will be a lot easier. You didn't happen to notice if the newly hatched fry were divided between yellowish and blackish did you?

I did not notice any blackish fry. Pretty much clear at this point with some with a more yellowish tint. This is my first spawn so it should be quite interesting. I am excited just for the experience and to see what happens... So should I be looking to keep the fry that turn blackish?

ones that looked blackish after hatching and not yellow would have a stronger Showa/kumonryu background. But since you didn't get any, then I 'd be looking for sanke
babies......

I stand corrected. After closer review it looks like about 1 in 20 is blackish. They don't seem to be as good swimmers as the yellow ones. Is this normal or are they runts that should be culled?
