Brady Sanke I am interested in....

Any thoughts?

I can pick up near me. 18 inches, 2 years old. Brady sanke. The owners want to upgrade. This would be an upgrade for me....I have the opportunity to pay $125 for it.

I think it has a good frame for a male. It has a nice long body, capable of being filled out. The hi seems pretty steady. Maybe a little fading on that back small splotch of hi. My only question is whether the sumi is too splotchy for a sanke.

Any thoughts are welcome.

Ethan

good price for a larger sized fish, but I do not care for the splotchy sumi.

Brady post here . I would wait and see if he cares to comment on the Sanke . Brady could tell you about the Sumi and anyother thing about the koi and it's bloodline .

Change the Title to Brady Sanke ... , You mite catch his eye .

Anyone knows what Brady uses for his Sanke spawns?

To me the Sanke looks too messy, but for $125 and 18" it could be one worth studying. I would see if the sumi will tighten up.

When you say he is 2 years old, I'm thinking he is entering his third summer. If that is correct, I am a bit surprised by the length in your climate. 18" is fairly long. Did he have the benefit of a heated pond?

The sumi may consolidate a bit more, and I believe he will grow longer, but I think you pretty much see what you will have for the next several years.

I know that Mat once told me that some sanke bloodlines cause messy sumi in young fish, but if you give them some time, the sumi may consolidate and tighten up. Why not send Brady an Email and ask him to check this thread? He knows his fish better than anyone else would.

I sent him an email, and he asked me a couple questions, so I need to get back to him with answers....

Easy on the eyes for that kind of money. I think sumi will tighten up as it grow.....it's in the right places. Male, maybe not a super koi, but a whole lot easier to look at than alot of sanke's.

I wouldn't jump so fast to declare this fish a male by its conformation alone. It may well be a female in its gangly stretch stage. The sumi looks far from finished, and if memory serves, some Brady fish don't begin to finish until 5-7 years old (I can't remember though if I was reading about his Showas or Sankes ).

I love the thickness of beni and would hope it would continue to deepen as the fish matures as it looks kinda finished in comparison to the sumi. And it looks like there's a lot more sumi to rise yet, too, so it'll be interesting to see if both beni and sumi come to their maturity at the same time.

Hope Brady chimes in...
