I'm sorry your first encounters were not as you might have anticipated from those of us on this board. But if you ask a question and want some help with health or water quality issues, since this is based upon the written word and not a visual visit to the pond, these questions that you may consider a bother, are actually very important if you want good advice in return. None of us want to cause you or your fish harm. That could happen if we don't get some good detailed information about the fish and the pond. In this hobby there really are no "simple" questions or simple answers when it comes to health issues.

Just keep in mind without good detailed information we are simply shooting in the dark and no one wants to pass along bad advice.

They invented punctuation and capitalization to help us express thoughts in writing and avoid confusion.

sorry to beat an already dead horse but i have to agree with most of you. For example, if I asked you; how big can a chagoi grow? The questions that would come would be:

What pond size do you have?
Who is the breeder?
Is the fish male or female?
What kind of filtration do you have?
How often do you feed?
What are your water changing techniques?

and the list can go on even more.... Simply put, MOST questions involving koi fish are not simple!(unfortunately you have to develop thick skin sorta)

As already mentioned by a few, you sought a "simple answer to a simple question", but the fact that you still believe it so "simple" reveals your need to be here and learn along with the rest of us.
"Will an ulcer heal?" depends on many things, including the cause of the ulcer and the environment it has to heal in. The same goes for cuts, torn fins, lost scales, etc...
We've all learned that an answer worth having to any question requires more information than can usually be gleaned by the asking of the "simple question". Details matter, and if you stick with this hobby long enough you too will find yourself answering questions with more questions...
