Kohaku can come from sanke or showa, if they look good.....
As a general rule, pure line kohaku are not going to give any offspring with black on them. Shiro muji and aka muji-tons and tons, kohaku-not many. But should be no black in the bunch.
That is the problem with using "store bought" koi for breeding stock. You really don't know that much about them. Lots cheaper than going out and purchasing a line bred kohaku from a breeder with the express purpose of breeding kohaku. If you go to a breeder and explain what you are trying to accomplish, they will help you. If you are unclear, or not forthcoming as to your specific purpose and goals, no telling what you'll bring home.
Of course a line bred kohaku with a proven track record, known blood line and from a well respected breeder, well now that ain't cheap.
