Which test kit can i rely on?

Hello

I recently bought the whole range of test kit from Nutrafin. My test result showed pH 8.0, gh 60 (according to the test booklet it is soft which shock me because the water in my area is suppose to be hard) and kh 60 (booklet says not so good to buffer pH).

I got my dealer to come over and test. He saw my test kit and immediately says it is not accurate enough. He took his which was more expensive and made in Japan and the following was found pH 8.8 (this was using a digital one), water he did not tell me the result but says it is very hard.

How do i know who is right? I presume his is better (please dont ask me why, for starter it is a lot more expensive than mine, i know price can be wrong).

Now i am stuck because to buy a good test might require me to import one in and i am in Malaysia. can some one recommend me a reliable test kit? For now i just have to continue with Nutrafin and that is making me a bit edgy as i should be starting to experience the new pond syndrome. I am only a beginner and i need lots of help, but i am enjoying it, well at least for now.

Who is your dealer and are you friends with other Koi Kichi in Malaysia?
There are a number of very experienced hobbyists in your area, and Sentul Park Koi is a very reputable business many of the hobbyists I'm familiar with use. There are others, but that is the first one that comes to mind.
Maybe Dennis (Dechoong) will see this post and chime in with some advice. He will know what brands are available there.

Larry i am afraid i am pretty much by myself here. My working hours is incredibly long so i dont have much time to interact with other koi kichis. It is only this forum and my dealer that i depend on.

Anyway i have found out a place in my area that sells LaMotte products. Will give them a ring today and see what they say.
