Kohaku from SSF

After reading JR's article in Koi USA today I thought I would bowl up my little guy for some opinions.

I bought him as Tosai from Pan Intercorp in April this year. He's grown quite a bit since then and is approx 14".

I really think his skin is outstanding as well as his confirmation.

The pattern is simple, but I enjoy it immensely.

Thoughts on his future? I had the camera on "auto" so I guess it deemed a flash on the one picture? Or just adjusted the exposure or something. But all were just taken today.

(I use He/Him/etc. as a default. I'm uncertain of the sex, but I believe probably male)

Thanks,

Grant

Very nice "show fish"....I take it that this Kohaku is male from the finish. I have a Oishi Kohaku I bought earlier this year and it has the same finish as yours does. Sensuke line Kohaku's sashi pulls in earlier as the fish matures and the beni will lighten up a shade lighter too. Overall it looks good and as I stated before a great "show fish" too.

Tony, would you mind posting a picture of yours? I'd love to see the differences and similarities.

Hey Mike, I got him at about 12" and he's a bit more than 14" now. Quite a bit thicker too.

Tony,

Nice Kohaku, the kiwa isn't nearly as scalloped as mine. How old is your fish? Is the reduction in the scalloping something else that happens in time as the beni consolidates?

Thanks for posting. Look forward to seeing him now.

My Kohaku tends to be more on the Sensuke line as yours has picked up more of the Dainichi line of scalloped kiwa. With your fish I dont think the scalloping will go away, but be more refine later on.

Credit should go to Moto sp? (never did get his last name... maybe Sakai?? Not sure... ) from SFF. I was lucky enough that he was visiting Pan Intercorp when I picked this Kohaku up. I asked him if he would do me the honour of picking a fish for me. Well, we bowled a TON of fish, and after a couple hours of bowling, humming and hawing... he selected this one for me. Hence the name of the fish... For a guy who does it for a living... he sure enjoys Koi. I guess if you have enough passion, it never gets boring.
