A plant can deliver O2 when it is do photosynthesis...during the day. So guess what happens at night ...it dumps carbon dioxide into the water which becomes carbonic acid that can cause the pH to decline.

no such thing as a good plant for inside a koi pond....no place to put them anyway.

A Nexus or Bakki shower will do a better job.

Hornwort is one of the most fragile plants you could ever put in a pond. In it's own right, it shatters on its own, but in a pond full of koi it would be a worse mess than an algae die off ever could be (experience from years ago speaking here). True, it is an oxygenator, and with its rough feathery leaves can collect a lot of fluffy mulm in no time, keeping the water clear--until it's disturbed. One little shake and everything the plant has collected scatters through the water column, and koi are the movers and shakers in a pond with hornwort, or any plant, in it. What grows in mulm? Parasites and pathogens....
