Big Bellied Koi

I am new in dealing with Koi, Ponds, Filtration and mostly dieases. I have a Koi that had a larger belly when I bought her (it) than the other two I bought at the same time. They were streamlined and still are. She (it) was about 14" when I bought her a year ago. She is now 16 to 18". I am sure she is a female because another Koi followered her around for a couple of weeks and we have about 100 baby Koi and Goldfish in the pond now. But in the last month her belly has grown very very large. When I say large, it's huge. By volume it constitutes neary half of her mass. Is this fish sick. She seems ok, swimming fine but certainly not gracefully. She looks like an overgrown submarine. I'm worried. my wife will die if we loose her.

Regards,
Bob Collins

don't stress it, my koi has got a big belly too. she probably just pregnant again. my pregnant koi doesn't swim gracefully either. as long as it eats well, thats fine. u can't expect it tp swim gracefully anymore when its pregnant, first of all, it will be hard to balance with a big belly and females tend to have smaller pectoral fins so its going to be harder to swim. seek an expert from a farm and he'll tell u what to do.
