Lucky went into the main pond last week after a great quarantine job by Bill.

Unfortunately I haven't seen her for a couple of days. I'm sure she is hiding somewhere I have checked all around the pond and in the skimmer and leaf basket.

Updates on "un"Lucky

Still no sign of Lucky but since two new pumps went out my water is a little green.

I finally have another one hooked up to my bottom drain so things should start to straighten out. When I get another back from repairs I can hook it up to my skimmer and life will be good again.

Since Lucky hit the pond after quarantine I have battled ich and am now one of those worrying about the KHV outbreak. My little Shusui died yesterday but I am pretty certain it came from the injuries she suffered when she got sucked through the bottom drain and ended up in the Leaf Basket.

I'm having all kinds of issues at the start of growing season, and because of everything going wrong I had to pass on one of Mano-sans showas.

With Luck like this it can only mean the rest of the year will be smooth.

Last update on this thread

Since it is June and time to update, here is the 411

Koi 1 name: 幸運 (Lucky) pick number 67 - koi number 13 -- didn't make it home from QT. She tried to fly and ended up in the net with no water.

Koi 2 name: 黒い夢 (Black Dreams) pick number 81 - koi number 40 was eaten by a Raccoon

It just wasn't meant to be for me this year.

Aw Mike....so sorry! It's such a terrible feeling to lose a fish. Just yesterday I saved my Chagoi from a jumpout--it was only luck that I was there to see her do it. We just can't be there every minute of every day....

thanks for all the kind words. I regret I won't have a chance to see how they grow up except through other peoples grow out threads.

I'm down to 4 guys in the pond so they have lots of room to grow this year before the rest of the kids come home from Brett's.

I thought about getting in this showa growout, but decided to save my money to buy a tancho showa from Dainichi next year. It will be the crowning piece in my collection of tanchos.
