Info updated but can't upload pics. will send to jnorth to meet deadline.

as expected, #47 my first pic is totally white. it has the best shiroji of all my koi but will not be staying in my pond past this spring as their is absolutely no sign of sumi at all. while she got good growth and was a heavy eater, the body conformation was not too great. the tail section is very thin vs the rest of her frame. for an early round pick, i would rate this as a bust!

#30 is a very nice shiro utsuri, my favorite of the 3. the sumi is jet black and the shiroji is very good also. turns out to be male but i'll be hanging on to him for a while. i'm going to try and bulk him up with some EA show and silk worm pupae for our show in May as soon as the water gets warm enough.

#67 put on some good growth also, but being male he is rather skinny. i like the pattern but this koi has a major problem right now. the white is very yellow. i think it is confused and wants to go ki utsuri on me. if the shiroji doesn't clean up, it'll be swimming in another pond next year. i'll keep him until next summer. not going anywhere soon with that yellow head.

what have i learned? picking koi from pictures is extremely hard.

quick update:
#47 went belly up last week, still shiro muji and the belly was pretty firm
#30: the sumi was deep blue black. the shiroji was like silky white, very nice, the skin luster is incredible...but also very male. rehomed to a friend's pond
#67: sumi was not so great and the face had a slight yellowish tint. the pattern is really appealling but also very male. rehomed to a friend's pond.

if i had 2 ponds, #30 and #67 would've stayed but need the pond space for the girls.

definitely will buy Omosako shiros in the future. the skin, sumi and shiroji are just incredible.

thanks again for this great experience.

i'll be ready for the next growout as soon as the pond re-do is completed this month!

I hate to hear that. I was still holding out some hope for #47 because of the great looking skin. Then again, great skin seems to be status quo with Omosako

Whoever got the newly re-homed #30 owes you big time... Male or not I liked the look of it.

i'm getting some black bamboo, a few mimosa trees, and some banana plants for my yard after i complete the pond in return.

it was a tough decision to let go of #30, actually tough for both of them.

at least they are nearby and I can stop by when I want.
