Adults and Tosai get along just fine together. We've had fish ranging from as small as 2" to as large as 20" in the same pond without any problems whatsoever. Small fish (fry) have problems with each other, but not from the adults.

NOT AGAIN ..
yep I guess many of us do not have koi because we have SEEN 10 inch koi EAT 2 inch koi..
having said that...a koi greater than 4 inches in length is probably safe with all other koi sizes

from what I've seen the little guys eat the best...they are quickest to the food and can pick little critters of the pond's sides before the critters get big enough to be worth pickin' by the bigger fish ( if you want the big guys to eat leisurely go to a pellet that is too large for the little guys to eat)

I'll give you that one on the 10"ers... Juvenile delinquents still have a taste for sushi, but I've never seen a sexually mature adult eat a fry. What I've seen seems to indicate that once sexual maturity arrives they lose all taste for snack size koi.

They suck up the eggs but I have never seen my koi eat another fish.
