Hi KoiAddict,

I am honored that you selected my #36 as your first choice. My wife named him/her Ivory and our other fish(#139b) Ebony. Your Bandit is also a stunning looking fish with very unique face mask. I love that look. Both are very similiar looking fish. Looks like we have the same taste in shiro utsuri. The only concern that I have on both fish(mine more so than yours) is the sumi being very much developed. Hopefully, in a year when these guys ro gals are judged the sumi won't change too drastically. Also, the shiroji on both fish are very different. The shiroji on your fish appears to be more youthful looking than mine. I can't wait to see how they will turn out. We will see.

I will definitely update my thread of their development on a regulas basis. Please do the same on yours; I will be tracking your Bandit as well.

Best Regards,
Sunny

After much waiting Bandit has arrived. Her face is nearly all black now. The changes are amazing.

Not wanting to have a lonely trip, I picked up a showa while I was at it. She's not perfect but I think she's stunning. The black is like wet ink...

Her name is Valentine. (Both fish being for my husband. I was repaid with a blue bowl & a koi poster for my gift!)

And I had to include this. The pure joy our fish bring us is even with our little ones. The hand in the showa photo is my sons... and here is my girl.

So, you don't think your showa is anything special. Well, I'm no judge, but I have been around the hobby for awhile and personally speaking, I think it has a lot of potential. The beni is very thick and even. The sumi that is up now on the head and back appear to be very good quality. Now, the question is, do you have the patience to wait for it to blossom in 4-5 years time? This seems to be where most hobbyists fail. They don't have the patience and when things don't appear the way they think they should within a year or two, they give up on the fish. All I can say at this point is:
DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you. I was waiting to get reamed regarding her. Instead you reassured me. I think she is stunning, and will keep her - I am in no rush.
