It has been very interesting to watch to say the least. The facial sumi has changed up and down quite a bit during the last month, and the body pattern is building and receding again almost on a weekly basis. Overall I'm pleased with the trends I see developing, but there is a very long way to go. I think what I'm most pleased about is the head pattern, the motoguro development, and the growth rate. Much better than I expected in an indoor tank. Needless to say, I am anxious to get her outside.

Finally Going Outside

Well Aria 51 and friends finally got to go out for some fresh air and sunshine today.
Here are some preliminary shots from the move, and we're still pleased Measured at 10 1/4" and looks to be bulking up nicely. Still very pleased with the way the pattern is developing and I really think it will balance well as more growth stretches things out.

Wow...look at her! How nicely her shoulder area is opening up, and you can see submerged sumi that is going to connect to the menware that appears to be happening on her head. And look at the motoguro! Aria 51 is gonna be a stunner!

Great job, Larry. Over 10" now and looking strong. Niiiice.....

Pretty close, huh

Larry, I like the changes so far, If you want to reduce the sumi a little more, you can send her to me.

Hi Larry, I have a question as part of your observation. I would like to know since they have been inside if the sun makes the colors more bold. I have been told that being indoors will really washout a Koi's colors.

A question of curiosity thanks.

I think the colors did weaken a bit while indoors, but no damage done. In some ways I think it gave me a look at the true depth of it beneath the outline of the scales (if that makes any sense)
Since the move outside the sumi has consolidated and when I take the fresh pics this next weekend you'll see what I mean. Pattern still solid, but the sumi looks different.

Nope, no muji there Bill
By the time we get to the end of this contest we'll all be wondering how we guessed so well on some and so badly on others.
