We almost passed on her because she was so sumi heavy up front, but the tiny breaks and the skin quality reeled us in. She has grown well and thickened up nicely, and the way the motoguro and facial sumi have developed has been almost ideal so far.

We're happy campers. Measured today at a strong 12", colors looking solid, plenty of underlying sumi to build with, and the pattern is still going in the direction we had hoped. Motoguro is forming very thickly.
5" growth since we got her, and since we moved her outside she's put on a real growth spurt even better than anticipated. Updated info on the page one form, but here's some pix from different angles.
The only thing not quite right is the small tear in the left pec fin, but that'll heal easily.

That Koi is coming along great. The picture does make it look like that the sumi has filled in since the last pictures. I am liking it a lot more than I thought I would. Nice job.

Yup. The move outside has really perked things up, and if the facial pattern keeps the basics of its unusual pattern I'll be really jazzed. She stands tall in the water so I think the girth will carry her frame nicely, but I need to get her in deeper water to bulk up the tail tube just a bit. Even though she's outside, it is still in a mini pond to make her easier to catch for this photo session. That will be changing very soon

Damn tempting..., but only CONFIRMED females go in there since the last male snuck in . After about a million fry hatched in there a few years back they don't want to take any chances
Jesus' mud pond is so deep even the BIG girls can slip under a seine net, so we'll just keep her here and see if we can't buff her up...

BTW. The Downs' mud pond did a killer job on Darryl's shiro that was in last years OKC show. The growth and finish on that girl is incredible, so needless to say if 51 turns out to be confirmed female next year I know who I'll be asking for a little summer camp mud time...
