Lol…………….I had forgot about the little research project of mine. That was about 1-2 yrs ago, wow time flies. The main interest in that product was the claim that it will reduce the threat caused by Aeromonas, Pseudomonas. That perked my attention as to if it did. It does drop the counts on both Aeromonas / Pseudomonas that are in the pond water; so does Koizyme. It ended up being cost prohibiting bringing in because of shipping and would need to sell 500 cases mo. to be worth it…….. Asahi Fancy Koi sells a lot so refer folks there if they want it,

Looks like you are having fun with this pond build. From the pictures it is coming all together, look forward to the completed pond. I know this has been a great learning curve as well.

Well back to the thread……………..

Hey Digger

Looking at the first photo, looks like you left your Johnson on top the skimmer - ROFLMAO - j/k

The skimmer is gravity flowing into the W. Lim Wave 24 with and Accelerator Static Pre-Filter . The skimmer is large and the opening of the skimmer is HUGE (8")! So, I talked Kent Wallace into letting me try out his nifty little skimmer fish guards! The leaf basket is enormous.

Photographed My Johnson!

I've left my Johnson in much worse places than on top of a skimmer! I'm just glad there wasn't a camera around!

Ready for my Shiros!

I've pretty much wrapped up the pond and ready for my Shiro's. I will be making the trip to Mystic Koi on Super Bowl Sunday to grab my girls.

I had a couple hurdles to overcome like a P.O.S. bead filter! Drain the pond because I failed to install a valve on my T.P.R line! At any rate, It will fill y'awl in on it later.

I will post more pictures of the pond's progression and the finished product later in the day.

Can't wait to get my girls!

Erik,

We'll have the game on, as well as some chips and dip.... but remember, it is BYOB!

Kind Regards,
Bill

P.O.S. Bead Filter

Well I determined my bead filter is a P.O.S. I had to cut it out of the system. I will end up with a repaired modified P.O.S. Bead filter in my system in the next week or so. In the mean time, I cut it out of the system and my T.P.R line will be bypassed. Long boring story!

Maybe I'll make a little loop so I can turn the T.P.R. line on while I make modifications. I sure noticed a difference in the performance of my skimmer once the T.P.R. was bypassed.

The biggest lesson learned here was: I didn't have a valve in my T.P.R. line so I had to drain the pond down below the T.P.R. to remove the P.O.S. bead filter! So needless to say, I installed a ball valve for future repair work when necessary.

Skimmer Overflow

We installed an overflow out of the back of the skimmer for heavy rain fall. The overflow drain flows into the blue 55 gallon drum that I am using as a sump. See photos of it in earlier posts.

Skimmer Fish Guard

I swiped a couple quick release, easy to install, proto-type skimmer fish guards from Kent Wallace. Very cool!

I think my Shiro's will still be able to make it into the skimmer!

Biological Filter

I modified my FlowRanger Back Flushable waterfall filter to hold three 36" Matala Rounds! I'm not totally satisfied with the AIRBOIL mainifold upon completion. After I shortened the manifold rack, I don't believe I'm getting equal flow of air pushing thru the filter once it's running. That will be a work in progress.

I have another of the same waterfall filter so I will modify the AIRBOIL Rack & Manifold to suite my needs and make a quick swap in the near future.
