This is exciting. Looks like Felicity will be arriving in the next two weeks or so. She will reside in my hot tub q-tank until the water warms up in the spring to about 73 degrees.

I am looking forward to seeing her in real life and getting my first measurement.

I chose her based on her pectoral fins and her body shape. I will be very surprised is the hi on her body stays so I felt she was sort of a "sleeper" and passed over due to these current perceived "flaws".

My very hard well water has been known to completely remove hi from beautiful fish in the past, but I understand it is great for bringing up the black. This will be a fun experiment to test what I have heard.

Well I took Felicity to the Dallas Koi Kichi Show in Frisco this past weekend to have her officially measured. She is now 11.25"! I was really surprised at her growth and pleased. I guess she must have liked living in the hot tub! She is now in the big pond and I was very pleased to see she is still an eager eater in there! The pond temp is now 77.6.

I was pleased to see that the hi spots have disappeared on Felicity. I don't think her pattern will be much to brag about, but she sure is showing growth potential.

It was a fun show and some beautiful fish were present. Tom and Jen Walker's 34" Tancho was so impressive! I just love her She got Grand B.

I will try and measure my Tancho and take pics of her (just for grins) later on this week. It has not grown nearly as well as the Shiro. It will be fun to see how it has changed also.

Yes, identical conditions for both fish.

Pictures are not really doing this Shiro justice.......................you really should this Koi in person

May be next time the owner will have a little of the "spunk" removed from the fish...............
