Two of mine seem to be losing (fading) the sumi also. I can't tell for sure. I'll be pulling them first week of June for a closer look.

Parts of 51 have been going up and down steadily since the beginning. I figure in 2 or 3 years it may settle in...

and one year is not long enough for this grow out then.
ok, it can come to an offical end but we ought to keep the grow out threads open

the very cool sumi drippin from LukeFish's eye is nearly gone!
I guess I just didn;t think they would change so fast!

That same sumi may well come back even better down the road. Who knows???
Looking at these at the June/November/March progress updates will be really interesting. I think the sumi movement on most of them will make for a lot of surprises along the way.
As to keeping the threads updated beyond the growout, I'm already planning on it. Tracking the maturing process long term is the best way for me to learn.

6 month offical update photo.
bowled today the lovely (?) LukeFish #149, pick 151b
measures in at a full 10 inches.
only a shadow of a black eye of sumi left on that one eye....think it will return?
the heavey sumi on the back half of the fish is breaking up, perhaps there is a pattern....or just a mess?
