Meg,
Welcome.
I sure hope your first pick turns out. I really wrestled with that fish as one of my picks.
I know pictures can be deceiving which is, why I like to see any purchase in person. For this contest it wasn't an option. Good luck, but I think you got a fish with a lot of left over, miss matched parts.

Now on to the second fish. I sure can understand wishful thinking when you're looking at a picture, but to grow a fish out because Luke likes it, makes me question your motives? Where are you from anyway? We'll be watching.

Jim

thanks for the welcome I an excited about this grow out.
and yes, it was painful watching them all get picked over one by one knowing I was going to be lucky if I got pick from the left overs.

61 I do have some hope of developing into something nice. as It grows my hope would be the pattern opens up into something more defined. Also there looks like there is some undeveloped sumi running across her face that would look nice should it come along. and yes I am hoping "her"

as for the second choice. I only need (as if I "need" any of them) one shiro. but I didn't want to do this grow out with just one fish.
99 was interesting and 103 seen to be a female with those big round pec fins and I liked its look, but I was afraid they both would stay too black. There were a bunch that had a lot of blotchy or heavey underlyng sumi.
# 149, aka Luke's Fish, has a flesh colored head that worries me, but I have seen that get a lot better on other fish so we'll see. It has not got that great body but it could be the picture, also it looks like one of the smaller ones of the lot.
At this point of the pickings, along with my lack of knowledge, I would have just as good of chance of dipping a net in the lot and taking what ever comes up as I would picking something decent!
so Luke posted that this guy looked interesting and I figured why not? what the heck? he asked for someone to grow it out so we could watch it and now we will.
I am a long way from Luke, have never met him. When I call this Luke's Fishs I am only refering to it as the one that he found interesting and would like to see it develope.

Jim,
Um Well I already said it in this thread but I'll say it again...#61 looks like its head has been stepped on.

Meg didn't listen to me! I'd have never wanted anyone to buy a deformed fish?

but I really appreciate being able to see #149 grow...and so will you meg.
