Koi #1 MIA

Guys,
I came home after work yesterday and Koi #1 was missing. The three kois were in a 8 ft showtank with a net over it, all purchased from Pearls of Paradise. It was there before I went to work yesterday morning. I looked everywhere, in the settlement chamber, in the pump's leaf trap, in the tank, etc and found nothing. The netting over the show tank had gashes/holes in it that weren't there before. I guess something came and got it. Probably a big heron ripping thru the black netting while I was at work.

Oh man! More losses in this growout... I'm so sorry to hear this. These guys are so vulnerable at this size.

You're going to have to beef up your netting with something more substantial. If it was a heron or egret, it'll be back to clean you out if it can. Maybe tent with something translucent so nothing can see in while you're not present.

What a bummer....

Yeah its amazing how persistent the predators are. They actually ripped through the nettting. It was the thicker, more expensive show tank cover too.
