When looking at the pics originally I saw your "Drummer" and thought "Tootsie Roll" because the beni on his shoulders/head looks like the wrapper to a tootsie roll...

    Hot off the press:

Yummy nummers! Boy she likes the food. Acted like her belly thought her throat was cut--hasn't missed a beat eating at all since arrival. Shealee's Comet takes her Welcome Wagon responsibilities so seriously....

    (sharing a thoughtful first meal)

    Going back for seconds:

I'm going to have to resort to a flash suffuser with this fish. She really reflects the flash.

    (Gimpy gets acquainted...)

Oh! She has a butterfly on her head!

*cheeks beginning to ache from grinning so much*

(of course, it won't stay once the menware finishes, but she wears it beautifully *Ow!*)

Even though it won't last, at least you have great pics!

Just a little art today. Drummer is working on her charisma factor and I'm still working on technique....

...and a little study material. Here is a progression of pics of a Yamamoto Showa from a 12-14" nisai through its 4th year.

Nothing is together on this fish at nisai, except for that intense beni that appears almost finished. The conformation is gangly, the pattern nowhere near balanced, but look at that progression in the following years! Now this is what I'm talking about! I see alot of sumi underneath Drummer's shiroji, that if I'm really lucky, will rise in a dominant and balanced pattern that the beni plates will be an accent to. That's what I'm hoping for, anyway....
