Mystic Koi Omosako Grow-out final results thread

I'd like to thank everyone who participated and I hope you all had a good time over the last year and have found it to be educational! A HUGE thanks goes out to Bill and Shawn at Mystic Koi and Water Gardens - Koi and Koi Pond Supplies for supplying us with these koi. Thank you as well to Omosako for growing these koi to tosai and for being kind enough to judge our contest .

Please feel free to update your threads in the grow-out section as the years past as it will add tremendous value to what we already have learned.

    Below are the winners
Grand Prize - Carolinagirl with shiro #2 Omosako will offer a selection of tosai from which the GP winner may choose from. This tosai will then receive one year growout in the Omosako mud pond.

Runner Up Prize - Koicjl With shiro #113 $150 gift certificate from Mystic Koi

Best Growth - Duc with shiro #47 $50 gift certificate from Mystic Koi and a 2kg tub of EA Show koi food

Least Growth - PondDigger with shiro #135 2kg EA Show koi food

Chair Award - McKTX with #65 Copy of Koi Volume 1 and Koi Volume 2

Tategoi Award- Woodyacht with shiro #60 $150 gift certificate from Mystic Koi

All finalists receive a free Mystic Koi T-Shirt http://www.mystickoi.com/subcat544.html

Please see the attached for the final entries that were sent to Omosako to judge.

*admin note* Ok I'm just setting this up so you all can see the final pdf being sent. Kudos to UCPondguy. He realized that he was 6 days late submitting his photos and withdrew from the contest. I was willing to plead his case to you guys but he wouldn't hear of it as he would rather guarantee no controversy or hard feelings by withdrawing instead. Very stand up thing to do and I commend him. Because of this I had to remove his koi from the final package and that meant shuffling some around so please note that your koi may have moved to a different page. This thread will be unlocked when the judging is through. Feel free to pm me or just post in the "quick note" thread until I unlock it.

Below is the email from Omosako Koi Farms. Please note that since he picked a tategoi (which was really cool of him) that we added a prize for that.

I am so sorry that reply so late.

This is very interesting result for us.

Growing Technique in USA hobbyist is much better than couple years ago.

I choose best Shiro in this group.
    Best is Shiro # 2.

    She is very beautiful Shiro.

She has very good pattern, and good white skin like snow.

And she has a good Motoguro.

If she has Menware on the head, she will be very good Shiro.

She has Sumi under the skin on the head, so it will be easy to come up soon.

Shiro #2 is the GP winner!

    I am interesting Shiro #113, #111, #156.

They have very interesting pattern form.

After they get big , I would like to see the again.

Omosako listed these in order of preference, so Shiro #113 is the runner up winner ($150 gift cert).

Also, I choose good Dream koi in the future.

Dream Koi is Shiro #60, #155.

They do not have pattern on the body, but when they were Tosai they have pattern with blue color.

I am excited to see sumi come up from under the skin later.

Shiro #60 is the future koi (tategoi), and so wins the $100 gift cert.

This time, I see every Shiro and I am very surprised.

I would like you to keep shiro and watch how Omosako Shiro developed.

    Thank you

    Congrats to everyone!

Cindy, I couldn't be happier for you. You deserve it, girl.

It would be nice if a pic of the winning fish could be posted here.

Thank so much Sandy. Here's a picture! And thank you to Omosako for choosing my fish #2 as the grand prize winner. I am honored. I am also very pleasantly surprised!! Thanks to everyone involved in putting this growout contest together. It was a lot of fun and very educational. I am looking to follow-up posts and watching many of these fish continue to grow and change through the years.

congratulations to all the winners, and to all the contestants for doing such a wonderful job growing these fish out!

Congratz to all winners and honorable mentioned. I'm sure it must be exciting to have the breeder speak of your fish.

Cindy, I believe you have fish #155 as well. Good Show.

    Congrats to the winners.

Duc, now that you have the EA food, you'll get some real growth out of them.

Congrats to our winners for doing a great job You know how to pick 'em AND grow 'em

Interesting to see Omosako's observations and as I expected he's looking down the road all the way with his picks. All you contenders are now officially on the hook for updates as time goes on, so keep them well and take good pictures
