    The actual water turned gray. This particular showa had probably 60 % sumi with a black head.

    Weird. I have never before heard of such a thing occurring. I have difficulty believing the fish released pigment into the water. I'd more readily believe something caught in the slime coat was released, or some other factor related to the source of the water or the filtration, etc. VERY curious.
