I'm with you, Ryan. That is so stupid to stand in line and fight those crowds just to buy something.

Koi shopping is so much more relaxing.

Don, you do know you can't make a post like that without pics.

It seems, Sandy, that in the excitement of the moment he forgot the camera.

Now, Don, why three? Why not one worth what the three cost? .... until we have pics, I am left to assume you are following Ethan's lead.

Maybe it was a "3 for 1" deal made on Black Friday? We're never know until pictures are produced...

    I enjoyed Black friday Shopping.
    i did Wal-mart.
i came home after Thanksgiving dinner at the in-laws and took a two hour nap. I Got up and sat around all night watching tv and the 'net.
At 3:20AM Walmart put EVERYTHING they were selling in the store up on their internet site for the sale price in the store.
and they deliver it to the house for 97 cents.
I bought my first tomtom GPS for $59...with text to speech, so it gives street names too.
I really enjoyed the experience...2 hrs later they were "Sold Out" on the internet.
You guys have heard of the internet?

    Sorry Guys & Gals . . . got distracted.

MikeM: You really know how to hurt a guy.

And when it comes to buying koi, internet be damned: 'On-site early bird gets the worm' works for me.

    1. Build a relationship with your local dealers -- or 'not'so'local' dealers you're willing/able to travel to.
    2. They'll notify you when a new shipment is coming in.
    3. If you can, review their photos in advance.
    4. If possible, establish 'first right of refusal' on fish that seriously interest you. Important: Don't abuse this.
    5. Be there when the boxes and bags are opened and the fish are dumped into tubs.
    6. Finally: You snooze -- you lose.

It's been my experience that many of the best fish in the shipment are sold before pics of 'the leftovers' are loaded onto dealer websites.

Then, after a month's quarantine and results of the blood draw have come back, ya go pick 'em up. Like these three were.

Got two of the three being netted, bagged and boxed.

Will post some glamor shots later.

Even with those photos, the Kohaku looks very good, indeed.

The first photo seems to be a 'green tea latte' Chagoi, but the second seems to be a classic brown. Sometimes you really can't tell from photos. ...How long is the Chag?

the chagoi is a bombgoi as in, "That chag is the bomb."
i like a good chag, and that one could be special for years to come...what a promising fish.
