Sorry for the wait, but had to get help from the Great Flounder on how to post video. I wanted to follow Ryan's idea about posting video for review rather than pics. Since Ryan has already posted Kohaku, I'll post showa for fun. All are nisai and female. Ok! Duc you can view now and don't forget your drool bucket. Pick your favorite and dream about it, because half of these have already been claimed.

A. SAKURA - 21.5"

B. SAKURA - 22"

C. KOKUGYO - 22"

D. KOKUGYO - 20.5"

E. KOKUGYO - 22"

thanks Tom!

man, what a long flight and no wifi on the plane! get home and finally get to see some nice looking showas.

#1-gotta go with A, the Kindai. very unique face, 1st step. the underlying sumi looks to be in the right places...question is, when will it come up? but that is the beauty of showas.

#2-B, excellent body and while some like the amount so sumi that it shows potential for, could get too dark for my taste

#3-D, like this one also, attractive face and just the right amount of sumi to balance it out. looks more stubby vs the others

#4-E, powerful body already and strong sumi. just too much of it!

#5-C, overall a very nice koi, just doesn't have the presence a showa should possess.

Tough choices, this will depends if you like kindai or mukashi showa.

#1 E, look at the head & body, this is what a showa should be. Showa to me means alot of powerful sumi & this one has it all. The ozutsu is nice and desirable.

#2 A, Once in a while a kindai will do & this one would suffice,. Now when the sumi comes in on the clean white shiroji it will be very balanced and I'll have to eat my decision of ranking E #1.

#3 D, again in a few years when the sumi is up this will be also a good one.

#4 B the ozutsu is weak on this one

#5 C not enough sumi up already & I don't see any ato zumi for my taste

Hey Lam where are you? Are you sharing the same drool bucket as Duc is and waiting for him to empty it for your turn or are you still in shock about giving up the kohaku? I want to hear what your "eyes" tell you about picking out showas.

Hi Tom. Sorry I have been really busy with work n family. Will respond later today. Yeah kinda kicking myself in the rearhind right now for passing up on the kohaku. You know i wouldn't hesitate a bit if I have a main pond right now. But Coach has taught me that there will always be another koi. I have Kohaku E on my mind right now. What was Ryan thinking passing up on that tategoi?! LOL!
