Dinh great idea, now is a great time to get started on a new grow out. I have several questions though. Who will judge the grow-out? Is there anyway we can get certified female tosai from this growout like the ones Mystic Koi offered last year?
I personally have an all female pond and with the last several grow-out I participated in my favorite ones turned out to be males and I had to rehome them.
Please don't take it personally this is only one person request, so don't let it change your plans for a grow-out. Please still try to make it work for others who are interested in the grow-out.

I, too, would be interested in a certified female JT gosanke growout. However, similar to 4Texas, I understand that not many would be interested in a certified female JT gosanke growout event. Besides, a good certified female Sakai Fish Farm JT would be relatively expensive.

How about a Dainichi certified female JT grow out event? I wouldn't mind a Dainichi JT kohaku or showa.......or better yet, a JT sanke.

Tom, this is just a plan to see if we have enough people want to particiapte.... More details to be worked out if we plan to do one...

For judging, we can ask the breeder to judge or find some good judges or koi kichies with the depth knowledge of nishikigoi to judge. This should be not a problem.

Female or Male tosai: same here Tom, most of us want to have Female Koi. As you know, unless we are willing to go for the special or jumbo tosai, so breeders can sex and certify female, but for just AAA grade that we are target for, it is top for breeder to guarantee Female at tosai age... Last year, we have few Tosai from Dainichi with Certificate and specified as Female, 8 out of 10 turned out to be Males.

    Best regards,

As mentioned in other post, we have Certified Female but 8 out of 10 tunred out to be Male... I don't want to see this happen if I will host the event.

If we really want Female, shall we target Nisai instead of tosai?

Thx, I see the reason why other such as Tom and Lam like Female with execellnet body conformation, but I thought you like Male instead;-))

I would be interested in a SFF certified female with Saki judging at the end. I have wanted to watch a Saki grow in my pond. One reads so much about the genetics but until you actually get to see the progression of growth and maturity of the koi up close and personal you can't really appreciate them.

The issue is that they would be a more expensive koi and there are many who don't spend as much on koi. I have a small pond so I would pay the extra to ensure female. I would also pay more to get a better quality koi that would stand a chance of remaining in my pond and not getting rehomed.

I know a few of us are doing the Dainichi sanke this year which is why my post is leaning towards Saki. Half my pond is Dainichi.
Whoever said you can't buy happiness didn't know about Koi
