Do you think that the pale one will be "yellow"?

When the fish gets bigger I dont think it is going to get any darker than it is now, I think it will be a flat dull yellow.

If we were talkin' Yamabuki I'd lean toward the lighter one, but since I've got zero experience raising Kigoi I can only "assume" the same rules apply. How's your kh/gh? All I've ever seen and heard says they demand very soft water to maintain good "pastel" coloring without going splotchy.

I have no clue what they will do...I was just was interested in having one.
i bought the yellower one the first day..no one wanted the other one so it was there when i went to pick up the yellow one on Sunday.
I am intersted in knowing more if anyone has any more info about Akame kigoi.

With albino in Koi there are only two color varieties that display this feature. Akame (red eyed ) Kigoi (yellow Koi) is one of my favorites. I had one for close to 30 years before having to put her down for ovarian tumors. A friend found one from marusei and gifted it to me this winter.

Normally the advice to go with the lightest is correct but I have never seen one as light as the one pictured here so i probably would lean toward the one colored up.

I tried posting a picture of mine but it said I'd already posted it, like that's gonna help me now But the difference in the two that I wanted to show is the uniformity of color thru out, which neither of yours shows in the tail section?

Anyway, I'm glad to see that someone else appreciates them as I like the
color and the genes tend to get them pretty big. Thanks for posting

yeah I noticed the lack of color in the tails...for $50 I figured the darker one would be worth the risk...the lighter one was practically a gift..
So if I keep em alive we both might learn something
(they both show more yellow now that they are in the 2000+gallon QT with a few other koi)

Didn't you take a regular Kigoi home from my place? Will be fun to watch them grow together.

    Best Wishes,
