    Your ph is fine IF you perform the DAILY water changes to keep things refreshed. Test the kh/ph of your tap water after aerating it well for a few hours to see what you really have to work with. As it stands your filter is burning through buffering capacity like mad trying to catch up with the Ammonia and Nitrite. B.S. is fine for a band aid, but your water change frequency needs outweigh the value of the B.S. After you get a properly sized and stocked pond you can establish a more reasonable routine for maintaining ph/kh in an easier fashion. For the time being you are in temporary survival mode.

    Don't raise the pH fast. That will kill them all. Koi can adapt to many things but not rapid change. Higher pH makes ammonia much more toxic. With the Nitrite readings you have, you have to have ammonia.

    I bet me trying to raise the alkalinity and Ph is what started all this. With the overstocking the higher ph probably is what really got them stressed.
