Deep South Koi Club - Ray Jordan

I finally had time to attend my first meeting although I've been a member for a while.

The club met in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. We were honored to have Ray and Martha Jordan attend. Ray gave a very informative presentation on how to select tosai Gosanke.

We met at James and Linda McAdams home for lunch then it was on to the library for the presentation.

Bill and Maureen from Purdin Koi brought 12 Kohaku, Sanke and Showa, 4 each, tosai for the club members to examine and purchase.

Thanks again to Ray and Martha. I'm sure everyone came away with a better understanding on what to look for when purchasing young koi.
The views expressed above are my own personal views and, as such, do not necessarily reflect the views of the AKCA or the KHA program.

Sounds like a great time. Just 2 questions...
Did you learn a lot from Ray and how many fish did you bring home with you?

Having the Koi in the bags reminds me of the all japan show. Good idea to display koi where water could be a concern.

Like Larry, I'd like to hear some pointers Ray gave that stuck in your mind about tosai selection.

Maybe in today's colorful world, it's time to get back to basic black and white

I didn't buy anything. I'm saving for the harvest.

There were a few points that were interesting but the presentation was very basic geared toward newbies.

I had a great time. I know how lucky I am that Purdin is so close. I also know how bad I wish I could work there. They're awesome people who don't mind teaching.

I still don't know what happened to the pics. Eve the ones I sent to the club are b &w

Maybe you can get a job there when you finally get to retire from the "h3llhole"!

I'd love to but I'd have to move again.
