I am not a member of KP so I can't comment or help this person.

    That's discouraging. I didn't see that post....

Wayne, glad to see your posts elsewhere about the unit and how well it works for you!

I found that if i put a elbow on the T, that it restricted the speed at which the foam was removed and because my fractionator is standing between plants i was not too concerned about where the foam went. Instead i fitted a bottom drain lid on legs 20cm above the opening so that nothing could fall directly into the open fitting. This allowed the foam to overflow easily. Ill take a photo of it tomorrow.

No problem Ethan. It really works well.

I originally build this small proto type, gave it to a friend afterwards.

I modified mine a little to suit my needs.

I added a lid and lip. The idea was here to prevent things from falling in. I had a flower bud drop into in last year and it block the return which caused the skimmer to overflow. I also added a lip to make the foam exit quicker. With my existing design there was always 10cm of foam that could never be removed and during the warm days the foam returned to liquid and returned to the pond. So the idea with this modification was to get the foam out and leave as little behind as possible. At the moment with the way i have modified it i have about 1.5cm area where the foam can build up before it starts to exit. I can lift the water level inside to skim it off quicker but then its more wet foam.

Also added a valve from where i can drain the water if i need to removed it from the systemfor maintenanc, otherwise it becomes a bit heavy to lift.

I noticed that my bio balls inside was getting dirty quicker than what i wanted, so i added a Hydrospin filter in front of it to try and cut down on the maintenance of the media. I am trying hard to control the water quality, so dirty media is not helping...
