    Dear Koi Kichis,

There will be an addition of a 'Super Baby Champion' category whereby the Kokugyo Winners of 12bu, 15bu and 20bu will be considered for this 'Super Baby Champion' prize.

As such the 'Baby Champion' will be selected from Kokugyo winners from 25bu, 30bu and 35bu. This will ensure a more level playing field amongst the smallest 3 sizes.

We wish everyone happy koi hunting and look forward to your entries into the 1st Shinkokai Malaysia Koi Show.

    Dear Koi Kichis,

Shinkokai Malaysia will be employing GREEN methods in this upcoming show, and one of the efforts is to try to cut down waste on paper and also photos submitted for kois. Therefore, we are working hard to finalize our online registration system, where you can register each koi online, and also just upload your photos.

There will be no need to fill in any paper forms, or print any photos. All will be done automatically and paperless.

We thank you for your patience and understanding and we hope to unveil this system very soon.

Please also kindly confirm your bookings of your tanks with the respective Supporting Dealers and make payment directly to them. The show needs the support from all koi kichis to ensured its continued success.

    Thank you

    SUPER BABY CHAMPION.

The winner is picked from one of the 2 Kokugyo winners of the 12bu and 15 bu category.

This category was introduced in the hope to encourage hobbyists to look into raising bonsai kois. There are many kois which do not grow big or jumbo, but are nevertheless of very high quality and beautiful patterns.

In Japan, this is actually a VERY tough category to win, as traditionally a lot of Japanese Hobbyists keep bonsai kois as space is very precious in Japan and not everyone has the luxury of having a big pond.

There are hobbyists in Malaysia too who are not venturing further into this hobby as the common perception is that one must have a very BIG pond to do well in the hobby. SHINKOKAI MALAYSIA hopes to change this and encourage more hobbyists on board and hopefully see more koi kichis keeping beautiful bonsai kois in future.

Apart from being suitable for those who do not have large ponds, the cost of these bonsai kois are normally much cheaper. Therefore, we can encourage more hobbyists of differing budget ranges.

We hope to see some very beautiful entrants at the inaugural SHINKOKAI MALAYSIA show in January 2011.

    Happy Koi Hunting!

    Dear All Koi Kichis,

The Shinkokai Malaysia show will feature Kokugyo and Sakura prizes.

Kokugyo winners (16 prizes) are selected from each of the 16 size categories in the Shinkokai Malaysia show, and winners are picked and considered from both the gosanke and non-gosanke category.

Sakura winners (16 prizes) are selected from each of the 16 size categories and winners are picked and considered ONLY from the NON-GOSANKE category. Winners of Kokugyo prizes will NOT be considered for the Sakura Prizes.

In theory, a non-gosanke can win a Kokugyo prize if it was outstanding enough and outshines the other contenders even from the Gosanke Category. If that happens, the particular koi will NOT be considered for the Sakura prize.

There is also a special Sakura Taisho Prize, where 1 winner will be picked from all 16 Sakura Prize winners as the top Sakura Prize winner of the show.

For the avoidance of any doubt, the Gosanke Category will include Kohaku, Sanke, Showa and Utsurimono.

    Happy Koi Keeping!

Thanks very much for the kind wishes. After all, the hobby of nishikigoi is international right?

we have some very serious collectors in malaysia and with many new dealers setting up shop in the last year, the koi scene in malaysia is proving to be an exciting one.

we hope to welcome some of you over to Malaysia in the future.

    kind regards,
    Sam
