Ha Junichi san this one, this one is not going anywhere. I put it in our Tategoi pond after our last cull. it's doing good so far.

Chin-san, There are subtle differences but the beni on all these showa is average.... in other words we can easily find this type of beni at our local dealers, and the sumi quality is not ideal..... unfortunately.

P.S.) the smallest one may have a better grade of sumi quality than the others.

Here is a picture that I took yesterday. it seems not so much noticeable the beni near the shoulder area on the largest one of the three (so far).

I often say that koi themselves are the best teachers, but as far as I 've experienced, overall proportion of the body won't change in most case.
In other words, a short body /head baby koi at this time won't be a long body/head koi in future (because that's innate/inborn bone stricture, IMO).

A skinny or stubby body shape at this time is often depend on individual appetite, character, digestion ability or overeating, etc. so that it would have a possibility to change. however, there is a tendency for those stubby baby koi to be a sort of stubby adult koi...

Thanks for the update Junichi-san! They are looking great. Can I change my mine about my previous pick? The big nidan is the one now. :-)
Is one of the eyes of the medium size nidan bigger than the other?

    Regards,
    Sunny

I like all the 3 showa. I like the one in image 9 with its mouth open. The one that has very little sumi.

Hi Sunny, yes, we can change our mind... maybe, up to 2 times. ()
One of the eyes of the medium size showa looks like popping out, I noticed that too, but it was just because of color ( compared to the other side of the eyes).
Instead, the Kawari doitsu does have popped-eyes so it needs some diet.

chang26K, Actually, the smallest one has a lots of sumi in the body... it's most interesting fish among them to see transformation as a showa (soon?!).
